Review:
So the the thing that really caught me from the beginning was Amber Gulley's writing style. I don't know what about it, but it just made the book feel like a quick read. I also thought the pacing was perfect. There were slow moments, but overall, the pacing was set just right.

The concept of this book alone intrigued me to pick Carnival Keepers up and read it, and it was just what I was looking for. Dark and horrific. The plot was amazing, and I loved the time period that this book took place in. The characters were all so well-written.

All in all, a book that I think is worth picking up and reading. It's different then a lot of the books that I have previously picked up, and I would definitely love to read more by Amber Gulley.

The complete series:

Review of Seraphina's Awakening:
4 stars

I enjoyed reading Seraphina's Awakening by Sheena Hutchinson. It was a slower paced book in my opinion, but it still kept me interested, and I read through it barely putting it down for breaks. I loved the plot and I really enjoyed getting to know the characters throughout the story.

I liked Seraphina, but I thought she was a standard female protagonist, meaning she wasn't different from a majority of female protagonists in books. I also really liked Jack and Nataniel, and overall, I thought the character development was nicely done.

One of the things that I really enjoyed about this book was the added mystery that I was expecting. You don't really know who Seraphina is, and by the end, you still don't really know who she is. I hope that gets answered as I continue with the series.

One of the things that I really didn't like was the love triangle. I'm not really a fan of love triangles - I don't really think they add anything to the story, and end up taking up time that could be spent on the plot.

Overall, I really enjoyed the story, and would highly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of paranormal romances with angels.

Review of Seraphina's Initiation:
4 stars

Seraphina's Initiation was a great continuation of Seraphina's Awakening. A wonderful improvement from the first book was that the pacing was much faster, and there was almost non-stop action happening, which kept me riveted to the story.

I loved how much Seraphina grew in this story - it definitely made me love her more than I did in the first book. I also really loved Nataniel, and I loved how he was in this story and his romance with Seraphina. I don't really like Jack anymore.

If you enjoyed reading the first book or even if you thought the first book was okay, I would definitely say it is worth reading this book because I feel that there was a lot of improvements from the first book - depending on why you didn't like the first book.

Review of Seraphina's Vengeance:
4 stars

After the improvement of the second book, I honestly didn't expect this book to be any better - but honestly, I felt that this book was the best book of all of them. I felt like there were so many plot twists and unexpected events occurring throughout the entire book.

I loved the character change of Seraphina - you get to see a different side of her in this story, and I think Sheena Hutchinson did a great job of handling that, and making her a character that you still love. As usual, I still love Nathaniel and I'm still not a fan of Jack.

All in all, this was another great addition to the series, and I highly recommend this series and cannot wait to read the fourth book when it comes out.

And soon, the independent lass discovers that her biggest obstacle may be the longing of her own traitorous heart . . .

Review:
4 stars

Courting the Corporal by Heather McCorkle is the second book in the Emerald Belles series, but it is easily read as a standalone if you haven't had the chance to pick up the first book. It's not hard at all to follow along and I don't think you really miss out on much without reading the first.

This book dealt with a lot of tough topics, and honestly I wasn't expecting that, but it wasn't too much happening, and I thought the touch topics added to the story, and they made you see Rick and Cat better than without them.

I really liked Rick and Cat, and I thought there relationship developed at a nice pace, and it was wonderful. I thought there relationship was realistic and relatable.

I woud definitely recommend this book to any historical romance lovers out there, because this one was an amazing read.

Tour + Review: Casual Impressions by Kennedy Layne

In this electrifying novel from USA Today Bestselling Author Kennedy Layne, the Safeguard team is coming ever closer to catching an elusive serial killer who might very well be hunting one of their own…

Sawyer Madison has spent the last few months hunting down a sadistic killer. He and his team don’t seem to be any closer to solving this particular case that has hit a little too close to home.

Fortunately, they had all served in the Corps. That kind of training and dedication meant none of them considered quitting before the mission was done.
Camryn Novak had spent most of her childhood, and a large part of her adult life, dealing with her overprotective brother. So when an admirer becomes a little too obsessed with her due to her high-profile career, she decides it would be simpler to reach out to someone a little less emotionally invested.

Sawyer never expected to bump into the sister of one of his teammates while traveling on assignment. Women like her were off limits—one shouldn’t mix business with pleasure. One burning touch was all it took to make his good intentions go up in flames. Unfortunately, it won’t just be her brother’s wrath he’s forced to face when an unknown perp targets Camryn—it might very well be the same psychopath they’ve been hunting all along.

REVIEW:
3 stars

Casual Impressions is the fourth book in the Safeguard Series by Kennedy Layne, and was the first book that I read. I enjoyed reading the book, although it wasn't a favorite of mine, I definitely would enjoy going back and reading the first three books in the series.

I loved Camryn and Sawyer, and I loved seeing how they both grew throughout the story, and how their love developed. I also loved the suspense of the book, and I thought the romance was a nice touch to match with the suspense.

I would recommend this book if you are a fan of suspense novels or romance novels. This book was a pretty enjoyable read, and can be read as a standalone.

Blitz + Excerpt and Giveaway: Till the Other Side of Time by Kris Embrey

Till the Other Side of Time
Kris Embrey
Published by: Archway Publishing
Publication date: July 15th 2017
Genres: Adult, Romance
This is the final chapter of Tell Me You Want Me as told by the cast of characters Leon, Bridgette, Gina and Sebastian.
Set in the music world of the late eighties, Gina Kelly and Leon Turner take off for Greece after a tumultuous tour with Tin Garden. Leon leaves Gina at the Acropolis to contemplate her life and soul mission. Is there a surprise waiting for Gina. Is it Sebastian? Things are not always as they seem in the world of rock and roll when Tin Garden are not on stage. Sebastian makes amends to clean-up his act as he moves out of the spotlight and into rehab and we start to wonder if his brother Rick has been the driving force of Sebastian’s problems all along. Gina leaves her singing career behind for motherhood, when Sebastian wants to have one last party before making a huge decision that will have a profound impact on his future with Tin Garden.
The author gives a final non-fiction version at the end into her personal journey in writing when the antagonist Sebastian, manifested into the authors personal life after her first book was published. Embrey shares her writing journey of Tell Me You Want Me, when the book took on a life of it’s own, and leaves one to wonder the age old question; does art imitate life, or does life imitate art.

EXCERPT:
The Book of Leon
NBC Studios, New York, August 12, 1988
Leon Taylor interview, already in progress.
Interviewer: You were on the infamous ‘Wait (Wait till I’m Home) Tour.’ Is that correct?
Leon: Yes, I was.
Interviewer: It was rumored that the tour was plagued with drug problems.
Leon: (laughing) I never heard that rumor.
Interviewer: Sebastian Roland has a reputation with issues related to drugs like heroin. Can you comment on that?
Leon: Heroin? No, I’ve never seen him or anyone do smack … okay?
I should’ve had the sense to decline the interview. I wasn’t expecting to be asked about drug use during a tour that happened over two years ago. I disconnected from the interviewer when I got hit with that last ignorant-ass question, which caused my mind to go back to that crazy tour and what followed after Gina and I left it.
It was November 17, 1986, when I started unpacking from the move into Gina’s and my new apartment. I had just pulled the last of the kitchen nonsense out from a box when the phone rang.
“Leon, hey, it’s Walter. Listen to this … you’ll never believe who I just got off the phone with,” he said with excitement.
“Who?” I asked, preoccupied.
“Guess who’s still lighting matches to Gina torch?” Walter said, laughing.
“Are you serious?” I replied, surprised. I knew who Walter was referring to and started whispering over the phone because Gina was sitting on the other side of the room.
“Sebastian tried calling you at your old number. He told me he’d made a big mistake. Can you believe that?” Walter said.
“He’s a damn mess,” I replied, rolling my eyes.
Walter proceeded to enlighten me on his conversation with Sebastian. I knew that man had called Bridgette’s place several times looking for Gina only because B had been bitching to me nonstop about it. Sebastian probably assumed that if he called the Christopher apartment enough times, Gina would answer the phone. Bridgette had finally had enough and had told Sebastian in a more animated way to go kick rocks and stop calling. Sebastian must have finally given up on Bridgette and figured that, since he used to hit Walter up for drugs back in the day, they were tight enough for Walter to give him info about where Gina was staying now. Walter didn’t give Sebastian the information he was digging for; instead, Walter called me and asked, “What do you want to do about it?” Thinking about his question and looking over at Gina, who was staring off into space and looking out the window, I told Walter to give me Sebastian’s number. I’m the one who decided to make the call to Sebastian.
I was really mad at Sebastian for what he’d done to Gina at that video shoot, not to mention the other things I had heard about on tour that had been kept from Gina. It was fair to say that Sebastian auditioned his tool in anything that had an opening, if you get my meaning. He was a damn mess with it. I’m being real with you. I didn’t want to be part of their love shit; it was exhausting. But she was hurting and still in love with his dumb ass, so I had to do something.
Gina had put on her coat and was heading over to Bridgette’s for the day. “See you later,” she said somberly. I was still on the phone with Walter.
After she left, I picked up the phone and placed the call to Sebastian. I will admit, I was curious myself about what had happened with him after the tour ended. Looking at his number, which I had scribbled on the side of a moving box, I thought about what I was going to say to his ass. I dialed the operator to place a London call, collect of course.
“This is the United States operator. Collect call from the makeup lady to Mr. SoBo Roland. Will you accept the charges?” the operator said when Sebastian answered.
“Makeup lady? Leon? Yeah, I’ll accept,” Sebastian answered back.
“Go ahead makeup lady,” the operator answered back.
“Hello, Sebastian” I said after some hesitation when he was switched over. He seemed a bit surprised to hear my voice on the other end.
“Where is she, Leon?” Sebastian asked impatiently, and he spent the first few minutes of our conversation pushing on me how to reach Gina and droning on about how he missed her.
“She’s around … busy, but she’s around,” I replied, ignoring his tale of woe. I glanced out the window to see that heavy snow had started falling. I was personally anticipating some warmer weather in Europe, so as I watched the snow, I began thinking about whether I should pack a speedo to take to Greece.
“I fucked up, Leon. I’m coming to New York for Christmas to see her,” he said.
He was still going on about how sorry he was for what he did to Gina when, without thinking, I let the cat out of the bag, interrupting to let him know that Gina and I were headed to Greece for Christmas.
“Really?” Sebastian said. He paused and then started to regale me with some foolishness about how he was going to meet us there and ask Gina to marry him. I thought he was crazy until he said, “Keep it a secret from her.”
This fucking man. I had to keep that info tight for three weeks. He wanted me to get Gina to the Acropolis the day we landed. He knew she’d always wanted to go there, so that was where he was going to ask her to marry his dumb ass, but he needed my help.
After I hung up with Sebastian, I called Walter back and told him about our little conversation and Sebastian’s plan to meet us in Greece.
“That’s romantic,” he said.
Of course he would think some mess like that, because he was living a straight life now. Walter was a yester-gay (yesterday gay) with a baby on the way. I rolled my eyes. Walter didn’t have to live with Gina or Sebastian’s secret. I did. I was edged off at Walter for getting me involved in this foolishness.

Cover Reveal + Excerpt: I Don't Regret You by Jodie Larson

We are very excited to bring you the cover for Jodie Larson's I DON'T REGRET YOU. This new standalone contemporary romance releases August 14, 2017.

About the book:

Regrets. We all have them. Like the Aqua Net hairstyles back in the 80’s, the 90’s grunge fad, or the person you lost your virginity to as a teen because you were “totally in love”. I have a few of my own. Specifically marrying my rebound guy but staying married because I was too weak to fight for my own happiness. He took me down and kept me there for far too long. I’m done. Done living with regrets and done not pursuing what makes me happy. Then you came along and showed me that I was worth more than who I had become. You are not my regret.

Excerpt

“Nice and warm.” He kisses the spot behind my ear, sending a new shiver to run up my spine. I jab my elbow into his side. “Don’t sneak up on me like that. I thought you were trying to kill me.” He comes around and kisses my nose. “Death by sex?” I roll my eyes. “Fiend.” “You made me this way. I’ve had the taste and I need more.” Pulling on his beanie, I laugh. “You sound like a zombie who needs brains.” “Why must it be brains? I’m thinking a pussy zombie is more appropriate.” My laugh echoes around us. “Oh my God, there are kids present. Keep your voice down.” Henry pulls me flush against his chest, placing his mouth on mine. My cool lips press against his warm ones, melting the icy cold from my bones. Snow starts falling around us, catching in the hair peeking out from under my hat. Henry breaks away, running his fingers through it. “You’re an angel.” I shake my head. “More like the devil.” “Technically, the devil was an angel.” “And look what happened to him.” His breath curls around his face as he gives me a toothy grin. “At least he’s not cold.” I smack his shoulder. “Let’s agree to disagree.” “Fine.” He looks over his shoulder to the kids. “You think they’re ready to go?” “Doubtful. I thought they’d be exhausted by now. No such luck.” “I know how to get them to leave.” With a wink, he walks over to the bottom of the hill, waiting for the kids to slide down. “Hot chocolate,” he yells at the top of his lungs. I’ve never seen them move so fast in the snow. Four sets of voices chant “Me! Me!” as they race back to my car. Henry walks back with a smug grin. “Cheater.” He stops in front of me, pausing, assessing. Then, without warning, he picks me up and tosses me into a nearby snowbank. All four kids start laughing out loud, telling Henry good job. I wipe the snow from my face, trying my best to suppress a grin. “You’re going to pay for that.” Offering his hand, I take it but yank hard enough so he joins me. Peals of laughter can be heard from the kids, along with Henry as he shakes the snow off his hat. “Is that my punishment?” “Oh no. You’re not getting off that easy.” A sly smile creeps onto his lips. “Can I pick when and where?” I jab my mitten into his chest. “No sexual punishment.” “You’re no fun.” His laughter dies down as he seals his lips over mine once more. We don’t go far, knowing we have an audience. Promises were made and if we don’t deliver the goods, there will be hell to pay. “My house or yours?” I bite my lower lip. Tough decision. But I know what I want. “Yours.” “Good answer.” Henry helps me up and brushes the snow off me, spending too much time around my ass and breasts. I bat his hands away with a tsk. We gather up the kids and head out of town to his place. Jacob and Cassie don’t object. They’re just as excited about going there as I am, though for a completely different reason.

REVIEW:
4 stars

Lucky Charmed by Sharla Lovelace was a very cute contemporary read that hooked me from the beginning. Although, it is the second book in the series, it is a book that you could read without reading the first, and still be able to follow along - which is what happened with me.

I really liked Carmen and Scott, and thought that there romance was really cute and believable. The romance and the plot were both nicely paced. The plot was sometimes slow, but overall it was set at a nice pace.

I would highly recommend this book if you love contemporary romance. I look forward to reading the first book in the series.
